Successful Water Color, 1987
"Nettleton Commons", Syracuse, NY, Holmes King Associates Architects, Water Color, 24 x 36
This building is in the north of the City of Syracuse. It was an old shoe factory. Edgewater Development bought this property and renovated it into retail/offices with condos on the top floor. The Architect was Bruce King, I remember dropping these illustrations (we did three illustrations of this building) off at his house because we finshed them rather late. This illustration had appeal. It was fairly easy to do as I remember. I tried a new technique and it worked out. I did a pen & ink illustration, made a sepia print of it, mounted it on foam core and painted it with water color.
Many other customers liked this technique and it sold a bunch of new work for me.
The building was renovated and the space feels much like this illustration.
